How it works

The line at your till is a maths problem.

One person can only take so many orders an hour. When guests arrive faster than that, the queue grows and keeps growing. Move the sliders below and watch it happen.

Simulated: 0 min

One till can take about 40 orders an hour. At 60 guests an hour the line keeps growing until the rush ends.

A simple queue model: guests arrive at random, one person works the till, and each order takes roughly the time you set. With table QR, guests order as soon as they sit, so the line never forms. Red dots on the right are guests waiting for a free table, which QR ordering doesn't fix.
